Container shipping furniture to Sweden

Posted by: Joe Gibbons

I am moving to Sweden for a new job opportunity, and I am looking for a way to set up house over there that won't break the bank. We've already been to Sweden to scope it out, and the family is really looking forward to the move. But I don't want to have to get a furnished apartment. I think that it will be too expensive and we would like to have at least some familair things around as we get accustomed to a whole new country. I have heard that it is possible to pack up your household goods and put them into a shipping container to be delivered oversees. Does anyone know what all is entailed with that? Does everything have to be clearly labelled and inspected by customs? Does that just happen at the destination, or do both countries want to know what's in there? I'm just afraid that too many inspections means stuff is going to end up broken.
